What is it to be spiritual?

It's strange to ask. Being that we are spiritual beings. I mean even if you don't believe in that "stuff" it doesn't make your spirit not exist. Although I must say I would love to know how to live a spiritual life, I don't think the know how makes you more spiritual. Maybe spirit ruled, but not more spiritual. For instance. I am a man. If I studied man and acted like a man or did all the things man does, it doesn't make me more man. Like if a dude acts like a walrus 24/7 it doesn't make him not man. So being spiritual is just being.

Maybe that's not what John Paul meant. Maybe he was asking so he could enlighten. However in my experience with the spiritual life I have been frustrated to find that the more I know the more questions I have. It's like walking into your kitchen and seeing President Bush wearing a zebra suit and standing on top of your friends shoulders. They're both holding newspapers that are being held upside down. Your freind is singing Welcome to the Jungle and the president is singing Ding dong the witch is Dead. You ask them. "What the heck are you doing?" Bush says" "We are Making pancakes." Your friend says, "It keeps the neighbors off the grass."

Now some people are like"Oh right pancakes." I'm like "Why the shibs!"

So as of right now being spiritual has left me feeling confused scared and well slightly insane.

So I don't know if I even want to read his next few postings on the subject cause it would just be liking asking George..... "How is this making pancakes?" and having your friend say all serious like, "cause the Neighbors like penguins. Have faith my son"

I wrote this long comment earlier today and blogger went down when I went to publish it. It was good stuff....and now. I don't like the words spiritual or religion. Those are words up for human interpretation. Just God. Or Jesus. Or Lord. Or Christ. It is about Him and not us, not our 'spirituality'. We are called 'sheep' but I think we are also like 'Lemmings'. I look at other Christians and say "They act mature. They act devout. They act happy...I don't look like them." So I try to do what they do. No good. That's why we're told to work out our OWN salvation with fear and trembling. Why Fear and trembling? Well in awe of God for one, but maybe also because we will come to a point where we question and doubt a little - this is scary for a Christian. Look, if you need to talk anything out WITH A COMPLETE STRANGER, I am here. Let me know on my blog and we can email or something. I'm old, I'm boring, but I am a Christian, and I think we are supposed to be there for each other. Life stinks out loud sometimes, but there are other times when it is just Golden. You have got to work through the stinky parts to get to the prize! - Jennifer

Funny.
Interesting.

In response, it does make me state the following: Perhaps spirituality and all that is a misnomer. Or more appropriately, "Who Cares." Sort of like looking at prophetic words and wondering how they will ever come to be.

All that is meaningless (as the Quester says), just a chase after the wind. I think this whole shebang can boil down into "love God."

That's it. Love the Master. Screw the rest and don't think about it. Just love The Master.

As in - "Dude, I don't know what you are doing right now. Do you know that I'm hurting here!!??" Choose love.

Have you ever seen EVAN ALMIGHTY? You should. Get back to me after you do (or, if you have - rewatch it and get back to me).

All my love,
Shadraq
